Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi addressed the tragic incident in Old Rajinder Nagar, where three students died after their coaching institute's basement flooded on July 27. Mayor Oberoi swiftly responded to the scene and directed immediate action against illegally operating coaching centers. She wrote to the MCD Commissioner, leading to a sealing drive in Rajinder Nagar, where 13 illegal coaching centers were seized. The drive continued, with six more centers sealed and an encroachment drive also conducted. Similar actions were taken in Mukherjee Nagar. A Junior Engineer was terminated, and an Assistant Engineer was suspended as part of the crackdown. Mayor Oberoi emphasized that no illegal coaching centers will be spared.
