"85th ANNUAL ACADEMY AWARDS" Celebrities Style February 24 th 2013 by Fashion Channel
The 85th Annual Academy Awards drew to a close with some small surprises. Ang Lee won his second Best Director award with Life of Pi, once again proving Asian filmmakers as worthy of an international stage. The musical theme of this year's Academy Awards also saw the performances of past musicals films being revived on the stage.
Subdued glamour seemed to be this year's fashion trend as pale-colored gowns and traditional black bow ties dominated the red carpet. Only a few men, such as Dustin Hoffman and Liev Schreiber, chose to sport the more modern straight tie.
The handful of women who strayed from the cooler tones seemed to wear either red, like Jennifer Aniston and Sally Fields, or metallic hues, such as Sandra Bullock and Halle Berry. Makeup was minimal, giving the stars a natural, effortless look.
