Contract workers, including some essential service workers, have downed tools at the Lichtenburg-based Ditsobotla Local Municipality. They are complaining that they did not receive their salaries. The municipality still doesn't have a properly constituted council following the by-elections on the 14th of December. The protesting workers have thrown out municipal documents - and have vowed to block the municipal premises until they get paid.
