Hi everyone! It's been a whole month since my last upload. Really needed a break from everything. Thank you all for the many comments and worries about me not uploading new vids. The 2022 has started two weeks and I'm planning on making new videos every two weeks again. New video's in the weeks with even numbers.

Today a ride I won't show very often I hope. Due to a disruption in Amsterdam my train to Breda had a delay that was too big to continue to Breda. Therefor the train was cancelled and needed to be shunted away from Rotterdam Central station. Since Rotterdam Stadion is only in use when there are football matches there's space to shunt train when they are cancelled like this.

We start our journey at the central station of Rotterdam. About 20 minutes later than planned the train arrived and was emptied by the train managers. When all was done we could take the train to Rotterdam Stadion, a bit further on the route.

After we've passed Rotterdam Zuid we immediately enter the Rotterdam Stadion station. As said this station is only in use when football matches in this stadium are played. The rest of the week the station is closed for use. A perfect place to shunt trains.

I added from Instagram footage from that day to the video as well. Hope you like it! After we've changed direction with the train we depart towards central station again about 45 minutes after we arrived.

After passing Zuid and Blaak we arrive at Rotterdam Centraal. There we open the doors of the train and passengers get bak on board again. Now the cancelled train is back on schedule again. Passengers that needed this cancelled train to Breda or from Breda to Rotterdam got on other trains and due to that they of course got delayed on their journey.

Because this was just a short ride I want to take you with me to Breda as well. After my lunch break all train where running on time again and I got back on tracks for the second part of my shift. Starting with a ride to Breda. The ride earlier that day got cancelled. Here you go!

Many stations to pass in Rotterdam as you can see. And for the third time in this video you got to see Rotterdam Blaak, Zuid and Stadion. Of course we won't be making stops there now.

21:01 Entering HSL South Section
Time to enter the HSL. On entering the HSL we have to do two things. First we change from ATB to ERTMS/ETCS. The system on the HSL shows the path of the train to the driver on a screen in the train. Therefor you won't see any light signals on the HSL.The second thing we do is changing voltage. On conventional tracks we run on 1500V DC. On the HSL on 25000V AC. While changing voltage the pantographs of the train are lowered and the train is rolling out.

From this point on we disengage all high voltage systems and let the train roll out until we leave the HSL. This because there's not enough time to re-engage the systems between the phase lock and the voltage change over. Someone who designed the HSL was not thinking hard enough at this point. ;)

At the end of the HSL we engage all high voltage systems again and get ready for the last part of the ride to Breda.

After arrival in Breda the train is emptied by the train managers and the doors are then shut. As soon as the signal give permission to depart we get the train to the shunting track.
