There is very little and substantial information about the biggest difference between USM and STM lens motors for canon lenses.
I bought a EF-S 18-200 in hope for a shorter focal length for video recording my pup and so forth. I noticed a aberration in around the center of the frame. I thought it was my DSLR (Canon 800D) that was malfunctioning but it turned out to be the motor inside the lens.
I've done a comparsion between my EF-S 18-200 and EF-S 50-255.
Im rather surprised how poorly EF-S 18-200 performe while actively zooming at my subject.
Now I know the biggest difference between USM and STM lens motors and i have acquired that knowledge the bad way.
Works very well for photography but video recording with zooming add a stroboscope-effect to the video which i fnd very annoying. Dogs and other animals does not tend to move around the same spot.
What do you think?
