The Philosopher's Path is a well-known stone walking trail on the eastern edge of Kyoto, Japan. The path is about 2 kilometers and runs along a small river, or maybe it's a canal, from the Ginkaku-ji area to the Nanzen-ji area. It is often crowded, especially in the spring when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. I wanted to experience the path without crowds so I set out before dawn to walk the path and enjoy a bit of morning tranquility.
We start on the northern side of the trail and walk through a traditional neighborhood before setting off down the stone path once there is a bit more light. There are only a few people out and about, but luckily there are a few cats to keep us company.
