Continuing my “Cheapest Electronics on the Internet” series, today I have a look at the cheapest ATX computer power supply I could find on AliExpress. The seller lists it as a 150W, 200W, 250W, and 400W power supply, so today I set out to determine the actual rating of the unit, as well as how well it maintains voltage regulation and stability.
I also perform a teardown and limited reverse-engineering of the power supply. The construction is inexpensive but not bad, and I believe it could be used with reasonable dependability in an entry-level workstation. It also appears to be modifiable and upgradeable for additional power output options.
