STORYLINE:
Leaders from APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum) countries relaxed at a gala dinner in Hanoi on Saturday night as the host country laid on a lavish cultural display.
Each guest was met by Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet on arrival and invited to join him at a celebration banquet.
US president George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush were among the guests to attend.
So far Bush has used the forum to lobby world leaders, lining up support to pressure long-defiant North Korea to prove it is serious about dismantling its nuclear weapons programme.
On Sunday he is expected to consult with and push for backing from China and Russia.
Talks on nuclear disarmament with North Korea stalled more than a year ago but may be about to resume.
APEC leaders, in their focus on economic problems, have also pledged major steps to resurrect World Trade Organisation talks which collapsed in July in a dispute over agricultural subsidies between the United States and Europe.
They have promised to make deeper reductions in farm subsidies, widen market access for agricultural goods and cut tariffs.
