The ranking is based on the historical and projected population of the urban agglomerations for the period 1950-2035. Among the largest cities are Manila, Jakarta, Bangkok, Yangon, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore, Surabaya, Bandung, Semarang, Phnom Penh, Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.
