I call an SSA scammer posing as "Hal Apenio". They don't catch on to the fake name, so I let them walk through their script and demonstrate what the scam is. I intentionally let on to the closer that I know it's a scam, and he has a suggestion on what to do with the gift card he would have had me buy.
For those who don't know, the scam involves making you think criminal activity has been linked to your SSN and that your assets are about to be frozen. You will be asked to "protect your funds" by purchasing gift cards. The scammer will have you give them the card numbers for "safekeeping". Of course, they will drain the cards. Your money is gone at that point.
