Dr. Doug is interested in talking to you about personality disorders, why they are essential to understand yourself and the healing you need, and how to better understand your friends and lovers. I also want to convey how important it is to never pathologize people, for even many postmodern therapists have an allergy to diagnosis. However, I do think it is essential to be honest about the nature of our trauma and how minority stress impacts two areas: Our Capacity for Intimacy, Strength, and Our Self Direction. In the following videos, I will share a more humanistic and alternative model for you to honestly assess where you are compromised and invite you through questions to build your strength and understanding. Stay tuned; bring your journal and your open heart.
I will review the SCID-5-AMPD or Structured Clinical Interview for the DSM-5 Alternative Model for Personality Disorders in the following few videos. It’s very cool how this is structured, more humane, and more literary. Here is one of the first questions it asks. Thinking back over your whole life, have there been times when things were not going well for you or when you were emotionally upset. Tell me about that. When was that? What was that like? What was going on? How were you feeling?
Dr. Doug, in his continual effort to integrate psychological knowledge gained over thirty years as a psychotherapist and professor, and founder of the nation’s first LGBT Specialization in Clinical Psychology, has created a YouTube on how to utilize creativity to jump-start your therapy and to get a head start on evolution. This is a queer-affirmative model influenced by pioneers in depth psychology to bring Psychology to the People so you can Become Your Own Best Therapist.
