Charles Walter, based in Elkhart, Indiana, is one of three remaining American companies still building pianos today. Charles Walter himself is still alive and well in his 80's, and worked as a scale designer for other companies before he started building his own pianos. This piano is a bit wider, which enables a longer string length for the lower bass section than is found in other upright pianos, resulting in a much richer sound.
