Replacing a Google Pixel 3 rear-facing camera due to focal ring failure (a known defect) and replacing the battery at the same time. Supplies and instructions are from iFixit; replacement battery adhesive and an adhesive gasket were also purchased from them.
Tools already possessed were a laptop repair kit, heat gun, and a basic battery repair kit (suction cup, small screwdrivers, spludger, and spludger pick). Bowls and scrap paper are incredibly helpful for sorting and labeling screws for each step; some screws are paired with grounding clips that are easy to lose, and are necessary for device operation.
This phone has a high waterproof rating, partially due to the back cover being held together with an adhesive gasket, and not clips. Also, opening the case means the adhesive will likely be partially or completely destroyed. Therefore, it is highly recommended to purchase a replacement gasket.
Total time was ~2 hours, which includes opening the case, unscrewing and disconnecting the parts to get to the camera (requires motherboard removal) and battery, replacing the parts (battery is held in with very strong adhesive), putting the items back together, removing and replacing the adhesive gasket, testing the functionality, and doing final assembly.
After assembly, all functionality works. There were two issues encountered during the process:
1) The new battery adhesive pad stuck to itself as soon as it was removed from the packaging, so part of it was cut out and manually applied.
2) Scraping off the old adhesive caused the paint inside the case to scrape off, making the back edges look scratched.
