According to the Parabellum website, Parabellum’s rally windscreen is perfect for those seeking protection without losing any technical riding capabilities. The rally shield fits the 2001 and newer DRZ400S & DRZ400SM as well as the 2002 and newer DR650. The screen is an upright rally type windshield inspired by past and present Dakar race bikes. The rally shield looks aggressive and performs well under all types of riding although designed primarily for off-road/dual-sporting adventures. On the street, our rally shield keeps pressure off the rider’s chest while still allowing your head to be in clean, undisturbed air. Off-road the rally shield protects the rider from roost, rocks, briars, mountain laurel thickets, and low-lying branches. Duck behind it in the rain/snow or brush. Mount your GPS behind it for easy viewing while keeping it safe. This shield mounts simply (with minimal hardware for less weight) to the stock headlight shroud by drilling 2 holes on both sides using an easy template. It is 14 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide at the bottom and 8.5 inches wide at the top. The material is military aircraft grade cast acrylic used for its optical clarity and is offered in clear or tint.

I have had the Parabellum Rally Windshield/Windscreen installed on my Suzuki DRZ400SM for 1,000 miles on and off-road through clear days, rain, strong wind, and thick bugs, and this is my 1,000-mile review.
Installation was fairly straight forward. It comes with a stencil to put on the headlight cowl to mark where to cut the holes. But I wasn't confident about it, so I attached the windshield to the cowl with c-clamps and marked the holes that way. Then, I just drilled the holes with a 5 mm drill bit.
Parabellum offers two windshields for the DRZ: the rally shield and the standard windshield. The rally shield comes clear or tinted for these prices here. I went with the rally shield because I prefer the looks of the smaller windshield.
This is what the standard windshield looks like with a total price of $209. It mounts to the handlebars and front forks instead of the headlight cowl like the rally shield.
I am 5'9", and I am riding on a Seat Concepts seat which is a little bit taller than the stock seat. So, when I am riding in good conditions, the windshield keeps the wind off of my chest, and the wind flows directly onto my face, contrary to what the Parabellum website claims about having the head in undisturbed air. This isn't a problem for me because I have an aerodynamic, full-face helmet, and I don't feel the air flow much. However, in very windy conditions like when I was riding across this bridge, it felt like the windshield was not deflecting the wind at all.
As I mentioned, the windshield directs the air flow directly onto my face. So, when I am riding at night when the insects are out, I get the occasional splat on my visor. One positive point about this is that bugs won't hit me in the neck and fall down my shirt.
In the rain, the rider can duck behind the windshield to find some relief, but ultimately, riding in the normal position, it doesn't do a whole lot in the rain. Off-road, the windshield is small enough not to get hung up on tree branches and the environment around you.
All in all, on-road, I would recommend this windshield for minimal protection from the elements. However, if you are into more serious touring, the lack of better wind protection could be a deal breaker. In that case, I would go with the standard windshield, not the rally. Off-road, the windshield can protect the rider from roost and flying rocks. However, it is too far in front of the rider to effectively protect the rider from thicket and low-lying tree branches.
There is enough space to mount a GPS behind the rally shield. Also, there is space between the rally shield and the head light cowl to put an extra pair of gloves or anything that you need to keep handy.
