This is a Fifa 16 tutorial and guide to defending and saving penalties. In this tutorial I will give an in depth guide and a ton of tips on how to know save penalties and win shootouts.

In Fifa 16 you can see how much power your opponent is going to put on his penalty shot before he takes the shot. If you look above the shooters name, right before he shoots, it tells you the amount of power in his shot.

If the shooter shoots a penalty with less than 1 1/2 bars of power I like to call that a low power shot. With low power penalty shots you can react to the shot after he takes it because the shot is slower. A low power penalty shot does not guarantee that it is going near the center of the goal though, that is determined by the left stick.

A high penalty power shot, above 1 1/2 to 2 bars of power, gives you very little to no time to react after the shot. In these cases it is best to determine before he shoots where you plan to dive or stop the shot.

All penalties in Fifa 16 can be defended and saved. Some may be tougher and require quicker anticipation, but it can be saved. Also, make sure even if you are standing in the right position to press up on the right stick to make sure the penalty does not go straight over you head. The same thing with down to make sure the penalty does not bounce off you legs.
