ESGE has set up a Quality Improvement Committee (QIC), aiming to improve the global quality of endoscopy and to promote a unifying theme of quality in endoscopy. Divided into five working groups (covering four digestive tract areas, namely lower GI, upper GI, pancreatobiliary, and small-bowel, plus an endoscopy service group), the workforce encompasses a team of more than 100 persons, stemming from 32 countries. This workforce is developing key performance measures for endoscopic procedures and endoscopy services. The project is co-funded by United European Gastroenterology (UEG).
The first publication from the project, describing the process in detail, will be published in 2016. Further papers will be published regularly over the next 18 months.
