Week 1: "Recovering a Sense of Safety"
In this chapter, Cameron emphasizes the importance of feeling safe in order to pursue creativity. She encourages readers to identify any beliefs or fears that may be holding them back and to begin the process of healing and letting go of those negative patterns.
Join me as I embark on a journey to find a deeper connection to creativity as I read and discuss The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron! This book offers a program designed to help artists, with exercises to assist people in gaining self-confidence in harnessing their creative talents and skills. I will be hosting a LIVE discussion on YouTube every Tuesday at 4:00 pm PST.
The book is divided into 12 chapters, one of which is to be read and practiced each week for the duration of the 13-week course, with the last week as a review of the entire book and our journey together. Leading us through this discussion will be Damian Skinner, who has attended and taught Artist Way groups for over 20 years in 8 countries. I’ve recently partnered with Damian to support his non-profit, Camp Wonderment, that uses the arts and narrative therapy to heal children suffering from trauma. "Creating heals wounds so we can create at a greater capacity - it's a natural and beautiful cycle" says Damian Skinner.
