What appears to a freshwater flatworm - possibly Dugesia lugubris. Like garden snails, they are clingers who on a thin layer of secreted mucous. The movement is accomplished by cooperation of microscopic hairs (cilia) and muscular contractions. Its unsegmented body is soft and flattened. It absorbs oxygen through the overall body surface and it lacks a major body cavity. Flatworms are known for their remarkable regenerative ability.
