Sounds of Sovereign Silver - Have a favorite?
Shown in the video:
American Silver Eagle (2 known authentic sounds)
Australian Kangaroo
Canadian Maple
Silver Britannia
All of these pass 3/3 on the Precious Coin Tester application. Highly recommend the application when ping testing before you’re familiar with the sounds of Silver.
If you’re trying to develop the skill set the application could become a crutch. I also highly recommend you ping your metals and listen closely.
The best way to learn the sound of real Silver, in my opinion, it to hear the sounds of fakes. The sounds of precious metals are much more precious, recognizable, and enjoyable.
Combine the ping test with the weight in your hand and the look of the item and your testing your metals in a reliable and historic way.
Disclaimer: All the risks associated with pinching a coin in between your fingers and tapping it are present when using the Pocket Pinger. The ping test is used for alloy identification. Always compare the sound of a potential counterfeit with the sound of a known authentic or trusted data base. Use multiple testing methods.
A simple ping test really can save you and others from a counterfeit situation and also bring peace of mind.
If any questions or would like to see/hear something pinging, let me know and I’ll see what I can do.
Hope you’re all having a good one!
Happy hunting!
