Facing Blue Screen of Death with the error message "Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We'll restart for you. Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap" in Windows 7, 10 or Windows 11 ? Try these three methods to fix this BSOD.
Method 1: Right click on the start button - system - advanced system settings - startup and recovery - settings. Under "system failure" change the "Write debugging information" to "small memory dump". Click on OK.
If that doesn't fix even after restart, proceed to the method 2.
Method 2: Right click on the start button - device manager - display adapters - right click on the graphics driver - update driver - update automatically.
Method 3: Right click on the start button - terminal admin. Here you have to execute four commands. Type the following commands and hit the enter key to execute them one by one
1- Sfc scan
sfc /scannow
Sfc scan will take some time to finish. It'll be stuck at random percentages.
2- DISM Scan
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
It will stuck at random percentages
3- check disk repair
chkdsk /f /r /x
Type the above command and hit the enter key. Then type Y to confirm the check disk repair on your next restart
4- Windows Memory Diagnostics
mdsched
select restart now to run both check disk repair and windows memory diagnostics
These four scans will repair the corrupted files, drives and memory.
