This is our first shorts on the channel. Dhaka Metro Rail was inaugurated in December, 2022. The service aims to connect key locations including Uttara, Mirpur among others. The metro rail service has eased lives of working professionals in Dhaka who often face long hours of traffic in the densely populated city.

Let's find out how you can avail the services of Dhaka Metro.
The Dhaka Metro is open from Saturday through Thursday. The weekly holiday for the service is Friday. The service commences at 7:10am and the last train leaves at 9:40pm. The metro rail arrives at the platform every 10-12 minutes. The peak hours of the metro is considered between 7:10AM-11AM and between 4-9:40PM. At peak hours, the metro trains arrive every 10 minutes and at off peak hours, the metro runs every 12 minutes.

You must purchase a ticket to travel by the metro. There are three types of cards available for the metro rail travelers - Single journey card, MRT Pass and the Rapid pass. The single journey can be purchased at the Ticket Vending Machine or at the physical counter. The ticket is used only for a single trip and must be discarded after the single one way trip is complete. The price of the ticket is only as per the trip cost. The MRT Pass is valid for 10 years and can be purchased only at the physical counter for BDT500 (BDT 200 deposit which is refundable). A registration form must be filled up to avail this card. The card can be topped up at the Vending Machine. The Rapid pass is priced at BDT 400 (BDT 200 is refundable deposit). The rapid pass can be used for other public transport services along with the Dhaka Metro. You can refill the cards at the vending machines located at the stations.
