In this video, we'll compare and contrast Kajabi and Skool to help you determine the right platform for your course, membership, or coaching business.
Hi, I'm Jacques Hopkins, and I live and breathe online courses every day through my piano course business, Piano in 21 Days, which has generated over $4 million. I've also hosted The Online Course Show for the past seven years.
Today, we're diving into Skool and Kajabi. I currently use and love both, but they serve different purposes. If you're confused about which platform to choose, we'll clear that up for you. Plus, I have step-by-step courses on how to set up and use both platforms like a pro, and I'll tell you how to get those courses for free at the end of this video.
High-Level Overview:
If your program includes these three components: pre-recorded videos (courses, workshops), live events (Q&As, community meetups), and a community, then Skool is your best bet. Skool integrates these features seamlessly but doesn't allow turning off any component, which can be confusing if your program doesn't need all three.
Why I Love Skool:
- User-friendly for both creators and end-users.
- Encourages interaction within the community.
- The backend is the same as the frontend, making it intuitive and straightforward to manage.
- Clean, well-organized, and reliable.
Downsides of Skool:
- Requires additional software for email, landing pages, website, and checkout processes. Though Skool technically has a checkout feature, Kajabi’s is more robust.
For the Online Course Guy brand, using Skool has led to higher engagement and lower churn. However, we also use Kajabi for essential features like website, landing pages, and email.
For Piano in 21 Days, we use Kajabi exclusively because it’s a traditional course business where community and live events aren't as crucial.
Kajabi Overview:
If your business model doesn't rely heavily on community and live events, Kajabi is ideal. It’s an all-in-one platform offering website hosting, landing pages, email systems, and checkout pages.
Pricing:
- Skool: $99/month per group.
- Kajabi: Starts at $69/month with the Kickstarter plan, which is great for beginners. The Basic plan starts at $149/month.
