Health authorities in Brazil are taking a new approach to fight the spread of the Zika virus.

Ok, so up until this point the government has been distributing insecticides and eliminating mosquitoes' breeding grounds. Now, on top of that, they're using guppies.
The small fish feed on mosquito larva, stemming growth of the insect in pools of stagnant water.
"The fish is very resilient, as it lives in places where there is a lot of sewerage and organic material, and where other species of fish would not survive."
The guppies also reproduce rapidly... meaning this could be a sustainable method to control the spread of the virus.
