More so than any other previous OST From software have done, I feel like Shadow of the Erdtree's implements leitmotifs on a wider scale. This includes thematically relevant things like the DLC's Scarlet Rot boss having elements of Malenia's phase 2 (the Goddess of Rot) theme in it, and of course this track.

Given that Radahn returns for the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, i guess it's about expected that his "funeral dirge" returns from the base game as well.

The two arrangements are almost the exact same in terms of structure, progression, tempo, etc. The main difference seems to be the addition of more elements in the new track (such as a french horn part being added to play the original choir part) and some variations on the melody in The Promised Consort. Hope this side-by-side encapsulates how much they've kept the original song the same while making it feel completely different in terms of emotions (heroic and powerful VS somber and respectful).
