Hello everyone this is Poulami and in this video I have shown you around Srijani Shilpagram which is located at a distance of 5 kms from Bolpur station. It's not so popular amongst tourists hence a perfect offbeat sightseeing destination from Bolpur, Shantiniketan. This place showcases the cultural heritage of eastern and north eastern states of India as well as Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Hope you enjoy this virtual tour with me.

DETAILS OF SRIJANI SHILPAGRAM:
Srijani Shilpgram, the cultural village of Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre is situated in Birbhum, Shantiniketan, West Bengal.The land on which the complex stands is of nation’s pride, primarily because of being the domain of Nobel Laureates Rabindranath Tagore and Amartya Sen.
The complex is spread in 26 bighas and comprises of nine museums in the shape of nine traditional huts of the member states of EZCC namely Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Manipur, Odisha, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The huts incorporate traditional, architectural features and designs. 1000 artifacts are in our collection in the traditional huts built at shilpgram.The acquisitions are more than 25 years old. The objective is to provide a realistic glimpse of each state and their culture within each hut as an individual entity and yet connected to the other states of zone. The naturesqueenvironment attracts visitors and is now an important cultural hub of the area.There is also an existing art gallery of folk paintings in Srijani Shilpgram, Bolpur named ‘Adi Bimb’ and ‘Adi Kranti’, a pavilion dedicated to the tribal heroes of Eastern India namely, Birsa Munda, Laxman Nayak, Rani Gaidinlu, Siddhu Kanu, Tilka Majhi and Tirot Singh.
Being the land of Great Poet and littérateur, Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore, there are more than 10 – 15,000 visitors every week who are art lovers and critics. Also the Viswa Bharati – The international performing arts’ university is situated in shantiniketan. As the location is in the outskirts of the city, Shantiniketan, Bolpur has minimal air pollution which helps in preservation of the artifacts and their maintenance will be feasible. Srijani, Shilpgram already has an average of 5000 visitors a week for its natural ambience and lively artistic beauty.
Four to five international festivals and melas are conducted annually at Shantiniketan attracting tourists from all over the country and also from abroad. Viswa Bharati is very closely located from Srijani Shlipgram and there are more than 30,000 teachers and students who regularly visit Srijani Cultural Complex. The school children of Bolpur, other parts of Bengal and nearby state Jharkhand, usually visit the shilpgram. The average income generated by the selling of Rs 10 per hear ticket at Srijani is about 8 lakhs. The EZCC also organizes weekend haats, melas and cultural programmes to attract tourist and to increase footfalls.
A Museum of Performing Arts is being set up at Srijani Shilpgram presenting Performing Arts in the form of a museum to display and instill the knowledge of cultural diversity into the masses is itself an unique effort. The collections are one of its kinds in the sense that the tribal and folk artifacts have been collected from traditional artists in the field of performing arts. Some rare and endangered artifacts which are distinctive in nature also add to the uniqueness of the museum.
