Metropole Orkest: 75 Years in Perspective - Its Past, its Present, its Future
5th Decade (1986 - 1995)

Conductor Henk Meutgeert, who from 2000 to 2015 was the driving force behind the JazzOrchestra of the Concertgebouw, was already an established arranger and pianist in e.g. The Skymasters, the leading big band in the 80s in The Netherlands with many of its musicians also being part of the Metropole Orkest. Meutgeert together with people like Rob Pronk, Jerry van Rooyen and Harry van Hooff increasingly served as sub for the ailing Rogier van Otterloo. This album is representative for the orchestra's music played just before and during the "interregnum", i.e. the period between the passing of Rogier van Otterloo in January1988 and Dick Bakker's taking over the baton to lead the Metropole, serving from 1991 until 2005.
