If you want your basil to keep growing, don't let it go to seed! As basil plants mature they go into reproduction mode and start to produce flowers and seed, which slows the growth of leaf development and makes the plants taste bitter. If you harvest off the basil flowers then you can force the plant to keep growing more delicious leaves!
1-Identify the main central stalk below the basil flowers
2-Find a node, or junction where the main stalk splits and has two arms growing out to the side, below the basil flowers
3-Using scissors, cut the main stalk above the node and below the flowers
