Deathcore. Its a subgenre I often don't have the best opinions on, but if there's one thing I can say, is that REGARDLESS of that, it's metal.
How anyone can say its not sounds absurd. It has all the qualities of a metal sound to the core, and while the appeal is one that is severely divided, that DOES NOT mean that the genre itself isn't a metal subgenre. This is like calling avant-garde NOT METAL because it doesn't sound like thrash metal or black metal. As I stated in "5 Reasons People LOVE Heavy Metal" this genre is the most diverse genre in all of music, one that literally embodies everything. There was even "rap-metal" with bands like Stuck Mojo and Body Count. Nu-metal has Linkin Park, Korn and...ew, Limp Bizkit. But they're still heavier than alternative or rock bands, and present a brand of music that has an aggression and methodology all their own. Nu-Metal not being metal is a debate that may be worth having, but Deathcore? No way. It's metal. It would be metal regardless of my opinion about the bands scattered within it, and it's going to be metal forever.
