Hi Friends!
Today's video is on The Earth Day 2023
A healthy planet is not an option - it's a necessity!
Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for Environmental Protection.
Typically, Earth Day is assigned a different theme or area of focus each year; this year's theme is "Restore Our Earth".
There are various ways to celebrate Earth Day not only on April 22 but everyday of the year.
Earth Day Activities:
1. Clean Up plastic in your Neighborhood or Local Park.
2. Support our Pollinators.
3. Plant a tree.
4. Use wild flowers and native plants.
5. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in the Garden.
6. Get kids involved.
7. Think about your diet.
8. Swap out you kitchen and Household products!
History of Earth Day:
The initial idea for Earth Day came to US Senator Gaylord Nelson after witnessing the impact of massive oil spill in California in 1969.
Earth Day became an International campaign in 1990, giving a significant boost to recycling efforts worldwide.
In 2009, NASA planted historic "MOON TREE" to celebrate Earth Day.
Earth Day will be celebrated by millions around the world on Friday, April 22, 2022 - marking the 52nd anniversary of the very first Earth Day celebrated in 1970.
In 1969 at a UNESCO Conference in San Francisco, peace activist John McConnell proposed a day to honor the Earth and the concept of peace, to first be observed on March 21, 1970, the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. This day of nature's equipoise was later sanctioned in a proclamation written by McConnell and signed by Secretary General U Thant at the United Nations. A month later, United States Senator Gaylord Nelson proposed the idea to hold a nationwide environmental teach-in on April 22, 1970.
Earth has long challenged human minds to observe and reflect. Just by our mere inspection of our planet, we gain important knowledge of science and of ourselves. And it's safe to say that nature has a powerful way of teaching us wisdom and healing us.
But the planet is also truthful about consequences. Accountability is a part of humanity, and our actions have an impact on living things. The more knowledge we have, the better choices we make in our actions.
The theme for Earth Day 2022 is "INVEST IN OUR PLANET", focusing on the effects of climate change on the planet that we all share and what efforts are being made in the real world to mitigate it.
In keeping with the theme, Earth Day 2022 will center on “accelerating solutions to combat our greatest threat, climate change, and to activate everyone — governments, citizens, and businesses — to do their part" announced the organization.
This is the moment to change it all — the business climate, the political climate, and how we take action on climate. Now is the time for the unstoppable courage to preserve and protect our health, our families, our livelihoods… together, we must Invest In Our Planet.
Because a green future is a prosperous future.
We need to act boldly, innovate broadly, and implement equitably. It’s going to take all of us. All in. Businesses, governments, and citizens — everyone accounted for, and everyone accountable.
A partnership for the planet.
And while there is still time to solve the climate crisis, time to choose BOTH a prosperous and sustainable future, and time to restore nature and build a healthy planet for our children and their children, time is short
