======================
Flying the DJI MIni 2 in winter sounds like a lot of fun and it is, but there are also a few things to look out for so you don’t damage or lose your drone. Here are (5) Tips for flying your drone during the winter cold.
Tip #1: Keep your batteries warm!
(a) The cold weather will reduce the amount of flight time on the battery. You could also see a voltage drop and possibly crash as the drone thinks you are out of juice! ***I did a real-world flight test of the DJI Mini 2 in freezing temperatures, you can check that out there 👉🏻 [ Ссылка ] (b) Keep your batteries in your coat pocket as your body temp will naturally keep them warmer. (c) Buy hand warmers and stuff in a couple in with your batteries in a backpack or your DJI drone bag.
Tip #2: Do Not Fly In Wet Snow!
(a) Can you fly in the snow? Technically yes, but here is what you need to know before taking off! (b) If it is wet snow DO NOT FLY. (c) If the snow is dry and not coming down in a solid sheet where visibility is poor then you are most likely good to go. *I am not telling you to fly in the snow. You fly at your own risk. I am just sharing my thoughts.*
Tip #3: Make sure your drone blades are dry!
(a)You want to avoid any ice build-up on the blades and the surface of the drone body. This can cause a crash really fast. (b) If it is snowing, take off in a covered or sheltered position where you can stay out of the snowfall. (c) Let your drone hover for 1-2 minutes before taking her out. This will allow the battery and the motors to warm up a bit.
Tip #4: Avoid high altitudes and flying through clouds!
(a) Again the absolute worst is getting ice build-up on the drone or risking the battery having a voltage drop out and your drone falls from the sky.
The higher the altitude the more extreme the cold is.
Clouds are made up of moisture, so you are inviting issues.
Tip #5: DO NOT forget about keeping yourself warm, Wear Gloves!
(a) Your hands are very important when flying, so keep them warm!!!
I am wearing PGYTech gloves. [ Ссылка ] (b) There are 3 things that I especially appreciate about these. (1b) The PGYTech gloves are Insulated and water-resistant with 3M Thinsul Ate (2b) The fingers and the thumbs on both gloves can be flipped open, so you do not need to remove your gloves, keeping your hands warm. (3b) The material on the tips of the fingers and thumbs allows you to keep them covered and still use your touch screen.
