Thank you for taking the time to check out my Fenix TK21 review. The Fenix TK21 is an outstanding flashlight for a great price ($95). The Fenix TK21, which is the big brother to the TK15, uses the new XM-L U2 LED bulb that has a max output of 468 lumens, a max run time of 220 hours on low, and a 214 meter beam distance. The digitally regulated output allows for the TK21 to maintain a constant and consistent brightness. The TK series stands for "Tank" and its durable aircraft-grade aluminum and premium Type III hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish offers ridig impact resistance, and water resistance to IPX-8 standard.
There are a lot of great flashlight brands out there, but for the price, Fenix is, in my opinion, the best value. Surefire is one of the leading names in flashlights, similar to Jordan and basketball shoes, but Surefire's closest comparison to the Fenix TK21 is their P2X Fury™, which is $60 more than the TK21, only has two modes, and only has a max run time of 15 hours compared to the TK21′s 220 hour max run time. Surefire's 800 lumen flashlights cost more than $400, compared to Fenix's 800 lumen TK41 which sells for only $130.
The Fenix TK21 only has one downside for me personally -- it doesn't tail stand for candle light. The rear push button on the tail sticks out about 1 centimeter from the aluminum housing which disallows the TK21 from standing on its end. It's possible that the rubber switch boot could be shaved to allow the TK21 to tail stand, but I haven't investigated the design thoroughly enough yet. For the record, Surefire's P2X Fury™ does not tail stand either.
