OMNIC Specta material characterization and identification software for FTIR and Raman spectroscopy allows for identification of individual components in a sample, Scott Ellis explains, by breaking apart the spectra of the mixtures. At Pittcon 2009, Thermo Scientific introduced advances of the software, now practical with Raman spectroscopy in addition to FTIR spectroscopy. These innovations include accentuated data visualization, single click contamination analysis, and a broad range of data format compatibility with various FTIR and Raman spectrometer manufacturers.
