In this video, we'll review the evaporator system on board USS Little Rock. This system was able to convert salt\sea water into potable water to be used in the heads, galley, cooling and heating systems, and for the boilers as needed.
There are four different units on board: Two 20,000 gallon 1st and 2nd Effect Evaporator, a 12,000 gallon auxiliary evaporator, and another 12,000 gallon emergency evaporator, located in the aft engine between two of the reduction gears.
