Our Trip to Monte Livata @lukhnia
The Mountain of Rome:
Mount Livata is also known as the Mountain of Rome, due to its proximity and deep connections with Italy’s capital. It is one of the peaks of the Simbruini mountain range and is the centrepiece of the vast Regional Nature Park, which covers over 30,000 hectares between the provinces of Rome and Frosinone.
In winter, Monte Livata is the perfect destination for skiing holidays near Rome, thanks to an excellent ski area that boasts five slopes served by four ski lifts, as well as countless snowshoeing trails that are perfect for the whole family.
During the rest of the year, the entire Mount Livata area is the ideal place for hiking, biking and horse riding immersed in nature. You will find everything you need if you want to try your hand at archery or plenty of other outdoor activities, including water sports in the Aniene river or on the small San Benedetto lake, which is located on the outskirts of Subiaco.
Be sure not to leave without first exploring the countless gems around Mount Livata, including the Caves of the Arc in Bellegra, the ruins of Emperor Nero’s villa and the Benedictine Monasteries of Subiaco.
