This statue is known as Kalasamhara meaning "Killer of Time" depicts Yama, the Hindu God of death, riding his bull with Shiva erupting from a Shiva Lingam poised with a trident to strike down Yama and the boy, Markandeava, caught in prayer kneeling in front of the Lingam
Shiva is powerful erupting from a Lingam to vanquish death
He fully displays his strength and might as who else but Shiva could defeat the god of death
Kalasamhara is a hand made, one of a kind, bronze sculpture cast by one of the best, if not the best, bronze artists in South India, Varadaraj, using the lost wax process, a skill passed on for generations since the Chola period
