STORYLINE
Turkey continued its military operations along the Turkish-Iraq border on Monday as Turkey's military said it had killed 41 more separatist Kurdish rebels in clashes in northern Iraq, raising the rebel death toll in its cross-border operation to 153.
A statement posted on the military's Web site also said two more soldiers were killed in fighting, but gave no other detail.
That would make a total of 17 since the start of the incursion.
The statement said the military hit some 30 targets of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, in the last 24 hours.
AP Television footage showed houses in the Amedi area in the border area allegedly being used by the Turkish intelligence.
Turkish soldiers were seen standing next to armoured vehicles outside the houses.
Some other AP Television footage showed Turkish soldiers trying to cover tanks in mountains next to Gali Balinda, a former Turkish military camp.
Turkey's cross border military operations began on Thursday in a move against autonomy-seeking PKK rebels, following a series of attacks against the Turkish military conducted from hideouts on the Iraqi side of the border.
