The history of Loma Linda University in 3 Minutes. There is an interesting backstory to this video regarding how I came up with the idea for it. The short answer is I stole it.
.
Growing up in the Inland Empire in the 60s one of my favorite TV shows was The Smothers Brothers, and my favorite person on the show was Mason Williams, who wrote one of my favorite songs Classical Gas. In one of the episodes Mason performed Classical Gas but called it “The history of art in 3 minutes”. In the 3 minutes he showed 3000 flashes of the great works of art. (about 16 frames per second).

I have always found the piece mesmerizing.

I have found that YouTube gets stinky when you try to use original recordings, so I could not use the original. In 1995 I moved to Oregon (Even though I formed this page, you can take the boy out of the Inland Empire, but can’t take the IE out of the boy) Through in interesting circumstances, I met and got to Mason. (He lives in nearby Eugene) My late friend Billy and I recorded a number of his concerts, so I am using the soundtrack form one of his concerts to get by YouTube (since we own the recording). It features only 2 musicians: Mason and electric harpist Deborah Henson-Conant.
Thank you to LLU for keeping and sharing such a wonderful collection of pictures.
