In this case, a judge fired a woman named Cynthia Forrester, who claimed that it was because of her gender. Forrester sued the judge in a civil court, but the judge argued that he had immunity from the lawsuit because of his position. The court had to decide whether the judge was immune and whether he had discriminated against Forrester because of her gender.
