Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia will only accept payments in roubles for its natural gas deliveries to “unfriendly” countries, which includes all EU members.
The decision came after Russia was hit with sanctions by western countries over the assault on Ukraine.
The rouble after the announcement, which plummeted after the start of the conflict, strengthened against the dollar and euro.
