Manali is a resort and tourist town in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is situated in the northern end of the Kullu Valley, formed by the Beas River. The town is located in the Kullu district, approximately 270 kilometres (170 mi) north of the state capital of Shimla and 544 kilometres (338 mi) northeast of the national capital of Delhi. With a population of 8,096 people recorded in the 2011 Indian census, Manali is the beginning of an ancient trade route through the Union territory of Ladakh, over the Karakoram Pass and onto Yarkand and Hotan in the Tarim Basin of China. Manali is a popular tourist destination in India and serves as the gateway to the Lahaul and Spiti district as well as the city of Leh in Ladakh.
Deepak Taal - A small lake called "Deepak Taal" ( 3750 m ) is about 50 kms from Keylong along with Leh- Manali highway (NH-21). It gives the mirror Image of the surroundings
Zingzingbar is a Border Roads Organization road-building camp and tea house way-station situated 25 kilometres (16 mi) from Darcha on the Manali to Leh road in the Lahaul and Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated at an altitude of around 14,010 feet (4,270 m). The location has temporary shelters and dhabas that can be used by trekkers and tourists for accommodation.
Zingzingbar is the proposed south portal of the Bara-lacha-la tunnel, situated approximately 125 kilometres (78 mi) from Manali. The north portal of this tunnel is expected to be at Keylong Sarai. The tunnel will reduce the transit time on the avalanche and landslide prone route by up to 2 hrs.
Suraj Tal also called Surya Tal (literally Sun God's Lake), is a 800 m (2,600 ft) long lake that lies just below the 4,890 m (16,040 ft) high Bara-lacha-la pass in Lahaul and Spiti valley of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh and is the third highest lake in India, and the 21st-highest in the world. Suraj Tal Lake is the source of Bhaga River that joins the Chandra River downstream at Tandi to form the Chandrabhaga River in Himachal Pradesh territory. The Chandrabhaga River is renamed as Chenab as it enters Jammu region of the Jammu and Kashmir (union territory). The Bhaga River (a tributary of the Chandrabhaga or Chenab) originates from Surya taal. The other major tributary of the Chandrabhaga, the Chandra originates from the glacier close to the Chandra Taal lake in the Spiti district.
Distance between Manali To Suraj Taal is 141 KM
