Shizuka explores the unique food of the port city Yokohama. Thanks to influences from other countries' cuisines, Yokohama boasts a diverse food culture. From the steamed buns of Chinatown to the western-inspired dishes of historical hotels, Yokohama’s food scene is a lot of fun to dive into! “Yoshoku”, or western-inspired Japanese food, was largely developed in port cities like Yokohama, and the Hotel New Grand is responsible for inventing two iconic dishes: the rice Doria and spaghetti Napolitan. Shizuka checks out the origin of these staples of yoshoku to see if this fusion food lives up to its reputation.
