I travelled to The Faroe Islands for the first time this year. I have never been there even though it is technically a part of Denmark. I went there with a mission to shoot the dramatic landscapes while thinking of a poem from William Heinesen, one of the most well known Faroese writer and poet. He actually did write in danish, but I felt it would be more authentic to have it translated to Faroese and have it read in Faroese as well.
The poem is called 'It is yet again one of these oceanic days' (Det er igen en af disse oceaniske dage), but it's not the full poem, since it was too long to have it all in the video. So I have made an abbreviated version. The poem is a tribute to life, and how absurd it in many ways is.
I must say the Faroese people are exceptionally kind and hospitable. I cannot recommend enough to visit this beautiful country.
This video was made possible by Blackmagic Design, who was kind enough to gift me a BMPCC 6K Pro. I already do use their cameras though (I already own the BMPCC 6K), so I would have made this video with a Blackmagic camera regardless.
I used the BMPCC 6K PRO for the shots, and shot almost everything with the Canon 16-35mm f4. And then there's a couple of shots with the Canon 100mm f2.8.
Everything was edited and color graded in DaVinci Resolve.
The voiceover was performed by Sigurð Thorsteinsson.

Also, my good friend, Daniel Jensen, helped me plan and film it. I couldn’t have done it without him. Make sure to check him out here - he’s talented:
