Colas Class 37, 37116 is seen twice passing through Bamfurlong on Sunday 28th March 2021. The diesel locomotive was working an ultrasonic test train from Derby RTC to Crewe via Preston and would make a couple of passes through this stretch of the WCML. The opening shot sees the Class 37 shoving the train northwards to Preston with the DBSO coach leading and is filmed at passing over the bridge near to where I normally film, the second shot sees the 37 leading for the run south and was filmed in a slightly different position to normal allowing me to pan around on the locomotive as it passes.
"So why the bridge shot, are you trying to be artsy?" you may ask, well no, the answer is far simpler, I was late. I have a rule that I need to leave one hour before it's due through but was held up by the missus, costing me 20 minutes, though this shouldn't have been a problem but.... the train was running 19 minutes early :/ Despite several bouts of running this was the best I could manage, I didn't even have the strength to run up that embankment - plus the train was due any second as I could hear it approaching. Lessons were learned, if the missus tries to delay my departure she'll be reminded of this and told to "do one" ;)
The official working was;
5Z11 Derby RTC Serco - Crewe Carriage Sidings
For anyone interested, the DBSO was 9702.
