Amidst a stormy parliament session over the passage of a controversial farm bill, a rare gesture of political politeness was seen on Tuesday morning. Rajya Sabha deputy chairman Harivansh Singh against whom the opposition MPs brought No-Confidence Motion for passing the farm bills with voice vote today reached the parliament building early morning and offered tea to the protesting MPs. The eight suspended MPs have been protesting since Monday after the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day. Carrying placards with pro-democracy slogans the MPs sat near the iconic Gandhi statue and continued to protest overnight. The MPs also slept in the lawns. On Tuesday morning they continued their protest. In the morning, Harivansh Singh who was at the receiving end of opposition MPs’ anger on Sunday, reached out to the protesting colleagues. He sat with them and offered them tea in an attempt of broker peace. However, his efforts did not bear any fruits.
