The future of phone service in Kentucky was voted on in the state's capitol on February 14th, 2013. Senate Bill 88 passed out of the State Senate with a vote of 24 to 13. It is titled the "New Economy Communications Act" by bill proponents. Opponents argue the bill would leave many in the state without reliable or affordable phone service. Patrick Turner of AT&T and Tom Fitzgerald, executive director of the Kentucky Resources Council debated this topic on Kentucky Tonight.
