- In the last few years, at least 3 journalists have been killed in West Papua and at least 20 others assaulted by Indonesian security forces.
- Indonesia bans foreign journalists from entering West Papua, despite promises to the contrary
- Indonesia regularly blocks West Papuan media outlets
