Sambal is a basic chilli based condiment in Malaysia, Indonesia & Singapore. There are many variations based on added ingredients keeping chilli as the base. It goes well with a lot of dishes - an all purpose sauce. Best side for Nasi Lemak. Can use in fried rice, stir fried vegetables, meat & sea food dishes. Usually made using shrimp paste, dried fish, etc… I prefer this recipe - Vegetarian sambal.
