Hammering a Spyderco Paramilitary 2 through a penny! This knife features CPM (Crucible Powder Metallurgy) S110V blade steel! CPM S110V has a very high wear resistance and corrosion resistance, however, because of those attributes toughness is not as great. This is partially why I believe the tip chipped during this test. The other reason probably has to do with being hammered into a penny…. It’s hard to say…
Disclaimer: This knife has a blade crack and was replaced by Spyderco. (Prior to this video)
I did not abuse the knife whatsoever for the blade to crack. I only cut boxes and plastic strapping and never abused the knife.
The only reason I decided to try this penny hammering test was to test the toughness of the blade steel.
All knives are tools and should never be used as a punch or prying implement.
