At least 37 people were killed after a bus travelling from the Malaysian hilltop gambling resort of Genting Highlands en route to the capital city Kuala Lumpur on August 21. It was reported that 16 people were injured and five were reported to be in critical condition.
Local media reports that the driver, who was among the fatalities, had lost control of the vehicle while going downhill. The bus reportedly lost its brakes and began picking up speed near the Chin Swee Caves Temple. It was also reported that the bus was swerved to avoid a lorry in front before it rammed into a concrete barrier and fell 200 feet into a ravine.
According to Reuters, the recovery operation is still going on, but the head of rescue team did not expect any survivors. It is believed to be the worst road accident in Malaysia's history.
