This high school soccer player continues her fantastic progress in rehabbing from anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. She is now in phase 4, focusing more on explosiveness and returning to sport.
This video captures her first time performing the step-up with knee drive. She’s using a 12-inch ply box to develop single-leg power. A primary advantage of using an elevated surface is to reduce impact force from landing. She must have a stable landing without knee valgus or hyperextension.
After she explodes off the box, she aims to replicate joint angles similar to sprinting. Her right leg achieves triple extension, and her left leg is dorsiflexed with close to 90° of hip and knee flexion.
As always — train both legs!
Effective and efficient rehab is criterion-based, not time-based.
